Monuments

Site Significance: This site is deemed to be of archaeological, historical, social, and technical importance.  St. John’s Cemetery is the site of a Religious House belonging to the Priory of St. Thomas and Hospital of St. John.  Today the North wall includes a portion of wall (L12m E-W; T 0.9m; int. H 1.8m; ext. H3.8m) of uncoursed limestone, with splays of blocked window, that may be the remains of the original priory.  Dressed limestone and granite pieces are present in the graveyard together with an architectural feature, a window-incorporated into an adjoined garden wall, all may have came from the levelled priory.

• Conservation Method Statement for 7 recorded monuments – include techniques, specifications, material recommendations
• Successfully submit and receive Ministerial Consent for works at/near a national monument
• Supervision of restoration and conservation of 7 recorded monuments works
• Contractor selection
• Liaison with The National Monuments Conservation and the Planning and Licensing Unit, Kildare County Council Heritage Officer, and appointed contractor
