Loftus Hall

Site Significance: Loftus Hall is deemed to be of architectural, archaeological, artistic, historical, and social importance.   The location of the first castle built by the Norman Knight Raymond Le Gros, (a named that evolved into Redmond, Raymond Le Gros is the first Irish Redmond).  The Redmond family later built Redmond Hall circa 1350.  This structure and lands stayed in the Redmond family until the late 17th century whereby it was awarded to the Loftus family who carried out an extensive transformation of the 14th century Redmond Hall into the dominating Victorian structure that we see today.

  • Mortar analysis of sectional developments
  • Research content for new interpretation centre
  • As part of the Loftus Hall team to implement and launch the new interpretation centre
  • Heritage and Tourism grant applications
