Do You Have A Project We Can Help With?

Courtnacuddy Development Group

Site Significance: Courtnacuddy (Cúirt na Cuide) is a quiet little rural village with a very long history with a strong historic role in the Castleboro Demesne.  Archival records tell us that the place name of Courtnacuddy has been documented since c.1560 as Cuirt na Cuide.  John O’ Donovan in 1840 noted the Irish form of a place name within the Ordnance Survey Parish Name books with Courtnacuddy noted as follows  “Court Macuddy seems the true name Macuddys Court or mansion house”.
